About Me
My name is Michelle, I am 33, and I have been married to my wonderful and supportive husband, Keith, for 14 years. We have 4 beautiful little girls- Hannah (5/03), Rebekah (11/04), Gabrielle (10/07) and Isabelle (1/11). I had my first three girls with midwives at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora. They were amazing pregnancies and natural births. I had a midwife and an absolutely incredible homebirth with my fourth baby. I breastfed all of my girls and am currently breastfeeding Isabelle.
I have been interested in all things pregnancy, birth, and baby since I was a little girl. At one time I wanted to be a labor and delivery nurse and then later a midwife. After attending my first birth, I officially decided I was meant to be a Doula. I loved supporting the mom and dad before, during, and after their birth. I loved being their constant support.
I absolutely respect nurses, midwives, and doctors, but I would not be happy unless I was able to give myself completely to the mother and father which is something busy professionals are not always able to do. It is my desire to help parents have an empowering and memorable experience and preserve their birth space as much as possible. I want the parents to bring their child into this world the way they choose to, not the way they are "allowed" to.
When I decided I wanted to become a Doula, I found Childbirth International (CBI). I am CBI trained and certified. Many Doulas do not certify but I feel the more I learn and the more I educate myself, the more I have to offer. I have experience with Hypnobabies, Hypnobirthing, The Bradley Method of Childbirth, Lamaze, homebirth, hospital births, inductions, surrogacy, waterbirth, VBAC, twins and much more. I am currently studying with Ontario Perinatal School (OPS) to become a Cesarean/VBAC Support Specialist. I am also CPR and AED certified through the American Heart Association. I look forward to supporting the birth YOU will have.
I offer Birth Doula services to DuPage County, parts of Will and Cook County, Aurora, Bolingbrook, Naperville, Plainfield, Lisle, Downers Grove, Lombard, Wheaton, Warrenville, Woodridge, Glen Ellyn, Glendale Heights, Carol Stream, Addison, Westmont, Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Elk Grove Village, and most likely your area in Illinois too! I don't mind driving at all so please ask.
